This aircraft was one of the fleet used by the Military District of Washington for the transport of senior
military and government officials, the mission of the Army’s 12th Aviation Battalion.
Among the many internal modifications were an upgraded navigation system, and color weather radar, and a
leather cabin interior. It also was outfitted with an improved “noise attenuation” transmission, a rotor
break (used for static loading and unloading of passengers to avoid shut down), and an Internal Extended
Range Fuel System. The frame exterior was also modified with clam shell doors for compartment access, an
APU Exhaust Deflector, and a high gloss VIP paint scheme.
#594 entered service with the 12th Battalion in the early 1980s. After being flight delivered to the Army
Aviation Museum, Fort Rucker, AL on the afternoon of 26 March, 2015, it was de-fueled and the main rotor blades were folded
